Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are among the most distressing of pests to discover. The good news is that they are not thought to spread disease (they seem to be less dangerous than fleas, for example), but it is important to deal with them thoroughly because numbers can increase rapidly and some more serious consequences are known, including allergic reactions and anaemia. Bed bug bites also cause intense itching - and the bites can take days to appear. Bite marks will often have a red dot in the centre.

Bed bugs have been spreading recently and can be introduced to a premises by travellers, or in used furniture or clothing. Control and elimination is best handled by experts because the bugs can live in inaccessible places, in large numbers. Their bodies are very flat, helping them to squeeze into tiny spaces.

Careful and safe elimination of bed bugs is possible but the the right approach is important for example, bed bugs do not respond to gel-based pesticide baits.
